It was not possible to always reproduce the flow of text aroundthe many figures and illustrations. These will appear inapproximately the same arrangement. Occasionally, numbered fullpage illustrations appeared out of order in theoriginal.

On p. 164, the composite illustration includes Figures 312 through322, and resists any attempt to reproduce the individual components.It appears as a single image, with the original captions includedin the image itself.

The numbered figures 520, 521 and 522 appear in the text out of sequence,though all references to them are correct. The sequence has been retainedhere.

The single footnote has been moved to follow the paragraph in whichit is referenced.
