These essays—thumbnail sketchesof Cape Cod—should not be taken asa serious attempt to describe the Capeor to delineate its people. They merelyexpress a perennial enthusiasm forthis summer holiday land, to-day theplayground of thousands of Americans,three hundred years ago the first“land of the free and home of thebrave.”
