MORE THAN EQUAL.

My dear Dr. Emmet:

The little “Why Not?” of the American MedicalAssociation is having so large a sale that my publishershave besought me to write a book for men, to coverground that I had left untouched, relating to the causationand prevention of various forms of uterine disease. Many physicians and many lady patients havedesired me to do the same thing, and I have yielded totheir advice. Our friend Dr. Brown-Séquard permittedme to dedicate the second edition of the former book tohimself, kindly saying that he deemed it somethingmore than a compliment. At the outset I was uncertainof success, and so the first edition went withoutsponsor.

In allowing me, in the case of the book now in press, thus to manifest my personal esteem for yourself, andmy appreciation of your many contributions to the advancementof our science, you will become my coadjutorin this attempt to preserve women from bodily andmental anguish, from disease and from crime.

Yours, ever sincerely,

Horatio R. Storer.
